The national projects Workshop 1 and Workshop 2 were supposed to support polytechnical education at elementary schools in the Slovak Republic using the supplied material equipment.  The aim of the paper is to analyze teaching aids that were distributed to selected elementary schools in terms of their application within the innovative state educational program. The study aims to describe, based on 92 statements of Masaryk University students, how they imagine a digitally competent person and what their grasp of the concept of competence is.
