It seems that to be effective it must meet criteria that can guarantee their didactic effectiveness. Among the criteria, author counted six areas: substantive correctness, ergonomics, stimulation of interest, the possibility of smooth running of the didactic process, self-learning with the use of didactic programs and possibility of simulations of phenomena and processes. The article contains information about the results of pilot studies aimed at determining which of the above characteristics are the most important opinion of teachers of vocational subjects. As a result of the research, hierarchically determined, which of the characteristics of the book in the teacher's opinion are most important and less important.
